i vote for leather

... but will guess that yet again my class times will conflict with yours!

I have the classic "hammer in search of nail" problem with the two sides I have: what to make from them? how to make it? etc.

But ... if they are anything like fabric, they need to "properly age" before they become anything ;-)

Hey, who do we contact to

Hey, who do we contact to get signed up for classes? Me and Kim both want to teach at this one and the person I wrote didn't respond to me. Thanks!

Send your class info -

Send your class info - description, length, number of students, special equipment/facilities requirements to Master Eldred AElfwald at university [at] atlantia [dot] sca [dot] org before May 1.

I'd attend them all.

I'd attend them all. But to rank them in order:

For the General Population (Non-Fighters)
1 Some leatherworking thing
2 Some old esoteric philosophy class
3 Some new esoteric philosophy class
4 Three Long Winded Reasons Non-Peer Households are Bad
5 Polearm for Tourney Fighters
6 Oldcastle Sword and Shield for the 21st Century

You could even combine #1-4 into one single class...leatherworking with a monologue.

If it was just me
1 Polearm for Tourney Fighters
2 Oldcastle Sword and Shield for the 21st Century
3 Three Long Winded Reasons Non-Peer Households are Bad
4 Some new esoteric philosophy class
5 Some old esoteric philosophy class
6 Some leatherworking thing

I’m a polearm fighter, and I could always use more help. There aren't a lot of us polearm fighters out there, while it might be great fun for me, I doubt attendance would be that high. I tend to just walk up and start fighting “smashmouth” like I do with pugil sticks. Just jab with the butt spike with my full weight behind it (if I miss, I really do stumble and almost fall), followed by a left-handed roundhouse with the axe head, which in turn bounces me back so I have to jab with my right hand/butt spike…etc…etc… Some studies in finesse with pollaxe would be nice.

The Oldcastle Sword and Shield book is excellent, and I’ve enjoyed reading it and working with it. It seems easier to understand than other manuals I’ve read.

I’ve always wondered why non-Peer households are bad, and philosophy is the root of why we do things in life. All three of them would be good.

Leatherworking could be OK, but only if you “talked shop” during it. Throw in some philosophy to spice it up.

Of course, I’m 6000 miles away from you, a 24 hour flight and at least four stops in international airports. So take my advice for what it’s worth.

Current events

There is a lot of talk right now about what makes a Knight, what are the duties and responsibilites and so on. You have always had a special take on the subject. I would love to attend a class where you and some of the other Knights have your views explored. I'm a little selfish though, that particuliar subject is steady on my mind!

Old Castle in the 21st would

Old Castle in the 21st would be very usefull, there is a lot of us that were never shown the basics.I have read about it but no formal instruction.

I would be interested in

I would be interested in attending either Oldcastle Sword and Shield for the 21st Century or Polearm for Tourney Fighters or both of these classes. Learning fighting techniques from Yoda is always a plus.

Leatherworking would be

Leatherworking would be interesting, but I'd really like to take the Oldcastle class just on principle.

The thing on non-peer households sounds like it'd make a better rant on delaflamme.org...

I admit the snark

I admit that I voted for the rationale on non-peer households, but that's just me being cheeky. Please do not take seriously. Sounds like Old Castle for the 21st would be useful. Of course, you can sign up to teach more than one class. :)
