Mostly Packed & First Bruise of Pennsic

Once it "cooled down" to only about 89° last night, I got most of the car and the trailer packed. Everything fits! At least everything I remember so far. Now I'm rehydrating and enjoying some of the ever-so-precious stockpile of girl scout Thin Mints I hid from myself after buying them from my friend Melissa. Tonight seems appropriate to crack them open, as we had lunch today to say goodbye. She's moving off to her new job in Michigan while we're off at the war.

Grabbing my tool bag from the shop and heading out into the dark, I managed to walk right into the stump in front of the shop. Banged my shin pretty well and went more or less head over heels. I was about equally surprised to find I can still do a half decent breakfall, and to realize that after walking past it for 7+ years now, I can still forget that stump is there.

I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow, but the cuts aren't bad and I doubt it will bruise all that much.

Packing & helpers

If you pack a cold cooler when you go to #Pennsic:

(not my dog.)

And if you have room in your freezer, today is the day to fill decent sized containers with water and put them in the freezer. 3/4 full gallon water jugs work well. As blocks, they'll last for days and then become drinking water.

Just don't forget them when you're packing up the cooler! But hey, if you do, they'll at least help keep your freezer cold if you lose power while you're at the war.

And so Pennsic packing begins. Not sure I'm taking enough polearms.

Moved the trailer into the garage to dry out.

I guess that means Pennsic packing has officially begun.

Good news, the particle board deck of the trailer seems to have survived a year of marginally effective tarp coverage without damage.

Practice tonight is CANCELLED or MOVED

We're getting hit by several issues tonight that mean I have to cancel at the Dells.
  • I'm coming down with a cold.
  • Thjora is heading out of town, leaving the dogs alone after noon.
  • 100+° heat index
So sorry, no practice tonight at the Dells. However, if anyone wants to come out to my place to knock around in the yard or work in the shop, I'm happy to host. I am not coughing much yet, and I may in fact fight this cold off. So I probably won't spread it to anyone.

If you're interested in coming out to my place (which for those who don't know, is about 10 miles east of town,) please let me know. If it's just Kelby (who is likely up for it) it's hardly worth doing. I won't be armoring up tonight.
